<title>Design Engineer - Electronics</title>

<description><![CDATA[<p><strong>Primary Objective:</strong></p>
<p>&nbsp;To develop electronic hardware products with development activities to include system design, circuit design, packaging, design verification and documentation activities.</p>
<p>&nbsp;<strong>Essential Job Functions:</strong>&nbsp;</p>
<ul type="square">
<li>Create a new system and electronic hardware design concepts including requirements specifications and system models and verifies the feasibility of the concept using circuit analysis and simulations.</li>
<li>Implements and verifies new system and electronics hardware designs including specifications, designs, schematics, PCB layouts, bills of material, design verification test specifications and design verification test results.</li>
<li>Maintains knowledge and understanding of the Winland product development procedures and quality system to ensure the project complies with all quality procedures and achieves customer satisfaction.</li>
<li>Monitors status of project activities and provides the project manager with regular status reports to ensure the project manager has a clear understanding of the status of the schedule, budget and risk issues.</li>
<li>Assists purchasing and manufacturing in the manufacture of prototypes to ensure timely delivery.</li>
<li>Participate in customer and project team meetings to ensure schedule milestones; budget and customer expectations are met.</li>
<li>Assists manufacturing test engineering in the development of manufacturing strategy, test procedures and test fixtures to ensure timely start-up of manufacturing.</li>

<ul>
<li>&nbsp;Assist in marketing and sales activities to win new EMS and product development business.&nbsp; Participates in initial customer meetings to make presentations regarding company EMS and product development capabilities. </li>
<li>Works directly with sales and marketing and the customer to create and present engineering project proposals including the design concept, statement of work, schedule and budget.</li>
<li>Provides input to the engineering department technology roadmap to ensure development of new capabilities and processes consistent with company objectives and budgets.</li>

<description><![CDATA[<p><strong>PRIMARY OBJECTIVE: <br /></strong>To monitor and continually improve manufacturing processes by leading projects targeting <br />quality, improving service, generating growth and improving the overall productivity of business operations by utilizing lean/6-sigma tools. <br /><br /> Lead, identify and execute 6-sigma projects that support continuous improvement objectives.</p>
<p> Evaluates manufacturing efficiencies through time standard studies, observation, and history.</p>
<p> Develop project scope, objectives and metrics - coach, mentor and assist project teams provide input on priorities.</p>
<p> Implements or recommends line changes to improve efficiencies while considering effects of process flow through other work areas. Researches and recommends capital expenditures after thorough analysis of quality, productivity and cost implications.</p>
<p> Participates in the NPI (New Product Introduction) process. Based on customer requirements and product, determines manufacturability, provides cost information for quotes and establishes product flow through manufacturing.</p>
<p> Leads PFMEA (Process Failure Mode Effects Analysis) for customers/products, modeling production process to identify areas of concern. Makes recommendations to address potential challenges.</p>
<p> Performs DFM/DFA analysis to aid in the quoting and quality process</p>
<p> Works with Engineering, Purchasing and Program Management on new part specifications.</p>
<p> Evaluates parts received to ensure proper fit for assembly. Works with Quality Assurance if an incorrect component is received. Issues MRN (Material Rejection Notice) as needed to prevent nonconforming material use in production.</p>
<p> Support program management objectives by providing product labor and yield reports.</p>
<p> Acts as a resource during line down situations. Identifies issues and resolves quickly, performing repairs as needed or coordinating equipment repairs.</p>
<p> Utilizes problem solving methodologies: Analyze problem, collect/analyze data, determine root cause, recommend/implement preventative/corrective action, and follow up on action. <br /><br /><strong>Related Job Functions: </strong><br /> Evaluates, develops and delivers lean/6-sigma training in accordance with company needs.</p>
<p> Communicates with the customer and Program Managers as needed to provide assistance and recommend solutions.</p>
<p> Regularly writes and reviews ECOs/ECRs/ADRs. Takes appropriate action to implement requirements documented in the ECOs/ECRs/ADRs.</p>
<p> Reviews BOM, Prints, Gerbers, Schematics, Test Specifications, and other pertinent information necessary to provide a detailed cost estimate used in quoting. <br /><br /><strong>Other Responsibilities: <br /></strong> Acts as a leader within the organization demonstrating Winland's core values and effectively implementing the Company's strategy.</p>

<li>&nbsp;Certified 6-Sigma black belt (Master black belt a plus) </li>
<li>&nbsp;Experience leading Lean/6-signma projects. </li>
<li>&nbsp;Experience with Electro-mechanical assemblies (i.e. higher level assembly or box build) </li>
<li>&nbsp;Demonstrated skills utilizing Lean methods and 6-sigma tools. </li>

<li>Performs process audits throughout various stages of production process. Samples boards for visual inspection and scoping, ensuring product meets pre-determined quality standards.&nbsp; </li>
<li>Verifies work center is set up correctly based on job information, including ESD, documentation and machines.</li>
<li>Performs first article inspections.&nbsp; Determines if correct revision of work instructions is being used and changes reflected in ECO's are reflected in production, reviews Bill of Material (BOM), print, board and parts to ensure job accuracy and verifies product meets quality standards.&nbsp; Tracks first article information for analysis.</li>
<li>Performs final inspection as required by analysis and/or customer request.</li>
<li>Interprets IPC standards as related to products throughout Manufacturing, ensuring relevant standards are met.&nbsp; Answers questions regarding standards, making recommendations to ensure product meets standard.</li>
<li>Rejects pieces that do not meet quality standards, issuing a MRN (Material Rejection Notice) and sending the piece for repair or disposition.</li>
<li>Processes (RMA) return material authorizations as needed, checking materials received from supplier.</li>
<li>Works with Group Leaders and Engineers to recommend improvements or resolve issues.</li>
</ul>
